Not sure what's going on with the negative reviews of this place. I think the main thing is that High Focus isn't going to hold your hand and you genuinely need to want to improve and recover. The clinicians will do what they can to support you and help you on your journey to recovery but ultimately, YOU have to make changes. High Focus provides you with the resources, knowledge, and guidance to make those changes. As for the person who said you need to wear scrubs...no? The dress code was very relaxed. People came in wearing pajama pants, sweat pants, or completely dolled up looking like goddesses. No one was ever asked to change into scrubs. Maybe if someone's attire was offensive, I could see them asking that person to change and in that case the scrubs are more of a courtesy than anything. Anyway, High Focus was a big part of my recovery from my breakdown. I genuinely felt taken care of and supported the entire time, from my consultation to my discharge. I loved that the clinicians treat everyone like adults and open the floor to discussion frequently. For the most part, group sessions were engaging and insightful. As for the 1-on-1 sessions, I felt like I wasn't getting them as often as I was promised. But to be fair, at the time there were 4 between maybe three dozen patients and I understand that there are only so many hours in a day. When I did have my sessions, my clinician was completely focused on me and only me and took the time to catch up with me about things. That being said, all of the clinicians are compassionate and genuinely care about you regardless of whether or not they're personally assigned to you. When my clinician was out sick, another clinician readily made time for a personal chat with me when I requested. You're also assigned a psychiatrist (I guess?) who will prescribe your meds while you're in treatment. They try to keep you with one doctor so your experience is more personal but even when I was scheduled with other doctors I still felt like I was being listened to and my concerns were being taken into consideration. Overall I think High Focus is great. Not perfect, but not many places are. Just know that if you do choose to enroll in their partial/IOP programs that you are going to be treated like the adult you are and they aren't going to coddle you. Be prepared to do your part to recover.

So I’ve been a patient here at High Focus and honestly it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I want actually recommended that I should go here by my friend who also went here. The MHAs and clinicians are very welcoming and sweet and all they want to do is help you get better (even if it means doing something you might not like it’s all part of the healing process people). Maybe the rooms are a bit dirty but you really stop noticing after like a day or two. The open sessions and therapeutic environment really helped me during my difficult time and yes this place has rules that you people need to follow and just know that the rules are there for a reason.

HIGH FOCUS HELPED ME FOCUS AGAIN! (How I miss all those bad puns XD) I've been discharged now for a little over a week and was at High Focus in Paramus since February. Progress was slow, but everyone makes improvements at their own pace. I used to be so depressed that I couldn't even go to school or sleep. However, with the amazing staff at High Focus, I've become a functioning human being once again! There were ups and downs of course, but overall, I have to say my experience was wonderful. The staff is super welcoming (JON THE MHA IS THE PICTIONARY PRINCESS AND HE LOVES BROBOKEN AND I WOULD ALWAYS TEACH HIM JAPANESE). I definitely recommend this facility to anyone who has an untreated mental illness. But remember, YOU have to want to get better, otherwise you won't see progress in any facility you go to.

I have not begun treatment with them but honestly after 6 years of dealing with bullying and ineffective school counselor and school admin staff they were a breath of fresh air. I cant wait for my child to begin treatment here. They asked detailed questions and made my husband, myself and my child feel comfortable and like we were in a place that cared for our well being. Like I said, I cannot wait for treatment to begin (which is tomorrow)

I'm shocked to read the negative reviews of High Focus. We had such a good experience with them in Paramus. Maybe some of these people are talking about a different program than the one I am familiar with. I was very pleased with the program my son attended which was at night for drug/alcohol use. The staff was knowledgeable, professional, and really cared about him and us -his parents. I highly recommend it to anyone who may be in the same boat.

Idk wth all these people are talking about. Yes there are obviously downsides like accepting u have a mental issue lmao but the experience is what u make of it. Y'all should stop bashing people who are just trying to help.. also, JOHN THE MHA SHOULD BE A CLINICIAN. He always made my day and was great, I'll always miss my sweat. 🙃

I went to high focus in August 2005. If you want to recover from alcoholism, it works if you work it. I don't like saying this first time winner. I entered sunrise house on August 3rd 2005. Then high focus for 3 months. Today I have 11 years 3 months and 14 days. If you don't remember your last drink or drug you haven't had it yet. You have to want it. Willingness. GOD -- good orderly direction Soberly yours, Cathleen
